Susan Sarandon Bio
It was shortly following the 1968 Democratic convention and there was an audition for a film that had several parts for young people who had disrupted convention. Joe (1970) was offered a role in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon was not selected, even though he had previously studied acting. His wife Susan was offered the role in the film as Susan Compton. She plays the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Then, Joe (Peter Boyle), a bigot who works in an assembly line and collects guns, meets Susan. Five years later, Sarandon makes the movie. Janet is a transvestite who is entangled by Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). After more than fifteen years, Sarandon was finally able to actively advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), traveling between Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. Sarandon said that "It was an incredible script... it dispelled a lot of myths and challenged the American definition of success". "I went to the studio with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his sexy assistants prior to getting back on the plane. Her romance with the Bull Durham (1988)) acting partner, Tim Robbins, had resulted in two sons by the year 1992. This put Sarandon in the position of leaving her domestic paradise and taking on roles that challenged her. The result was four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s as well as the award for best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
